By Shitta Faruq Ademola
a thistle
sprouting for votive
to the sky lark’s nests
up on a tree
a blood
laboratories embracing
viscidity
maples worshiped in
the East
churning the tongue of
waters
fire forebears
the ancestor of red
faces
Satan’s deception
Adam’s apple
Eve’s treasured stupidity
hunger
a stomach marrying
thirsty worms
a wound that never heals
Pharaoh’s obdurateness
a nylon floating
for survival
